Continuing our goal to make our home more tech, we now move to the bedroom and I will give you some ideas on how to accomplish that.
What Makes a Bedroom Your Favorite Room
You should pay extra attention to your bedroom because it is the place you rest from a long day of work, and recharge your batteries.
You should never take your stress or work issues into your bedroom. Know how to separate things, so when you go to your bedroom, you will actually get rested.
Spa at Home
It it is not difficult to create a nice ambient for your bedroom. If you think about a place for relaxation, you automatically have a spa in your mind. Your bedroom should feel just like that.
What makes a spa so relaxing: First of all, it needs to be clean, noise free, and if you do choose to have some kind of sound, it should be a ambient one.
Another thing, you should consider taking out of your bedroom any unnecessary technology, or better said, the ones that will effect your sleeping time. You would be surprised to know how much harm those do to you.
Take a look at this. A PhD and former director of the Fatigue Countermeasures Program at the NASA Ames Research Center and president and chief scientist at the scientific consulting firm Alertness Solutions Mark Rosekind says that, “One of the most simple but important reasons technology affects our sleep is cognitive stimulation,”.
Things to know: “As your brain revs up, its electrical activity increases and neurons start to race — the exact opposite of what should be happening before sleep. A second reason has to do with your body: The physical act of responding to a video game or even an email makes your body tense. As you get stressed, your body can go into a “fight or flight” response, and as a result, cortisol, a stress hormone produced by the adrenal gland, is released, creating a situation hardly conducive to sleep.” source: webmd.com
As you probably know, lack of sleep will get you more stressed and age will come faster making you look older before it’s time.
Preparing for Bed
I am pretty sure that for most of us, the last thing we do before going to sleep is check our cellphone. Staying on your cellphone before bed, will make you not want to sleep because the glow of the mobile device delays the release of the sleep-inducing hormone, melatonin.
Knowing that, Apple launched a new update for all mobile devices which will let you set your cellphone into a Night Shift Mode, to make the screen warmer and help you fall asleep faster.
“Many studies have shown that exposure to bright blue light in the evening can affect your circadian rhythms and make it harder to fall asleep. Night Shift uses your iOS device’s clock and geolocation to determine when it’s sunset in your location, then it automatically shifts the colors in your display to the warmer end of the spectrum.1 In the morning, it returns the display to its regular settings. Pleasant dreams.” apple.com
Since now we know how to make our bedroom a better sleep place, let’s look at what devices will help us attain that;
Dyson Pure Cool Link Tower
I have dust allergy myself and I can’t tell you how many nights I spent sneezing. That’s because your bedroom, since it is most of the times a smaller room with carpets, curtains etc, collects a lot of dust.
I really encourage you to buy one of these Air Purifier from Dyson. It removes 99.97% of allergens and pollutants, making you have a better sleep and breath fresher air.
This is also not a simple fan. This is a total smart device that you can control with either a remote control or your mobile device to access further commands and information. You can automatically monitor your Dyson Purifier using the app, as it send reports and reacts based on that info.
Worried about Noisy? Don’t worry, the Dyson Pure Cool also have a night-time mode which will make you doubt that is actually on. Dyson nailed every aspect of it.
EIGHT Smart Mattress Cover
What made this product so catchy in my eyes is that, instead of you having to replace your good mattress for a new one, they were clever enough to create a cover that will fit any bed. You will save money and time this way.
BeoPlay H8 Headphone
Noise Canceling: Do you get distracted when going to sleep by an outside noise? You won’t have this problem when using the noise cancellation from this headphone anymore.
Comfort: Listening to a good music helps me fall asleep better but its not always possible because most headphones don’t provide the comfort so you can even forget you are wearing something. The H8 is made with a luxurious leather that is very soft and the headphone itself is the lightest from the brand, weighing only 250grams.
Commands: Everything is controlled by a swipe of your finger. You can easily change a song by swiping forward/back or change the volume by doing a circular motion, very cool.
Clocky Funny Alarm Clock
The Clocky will run away from you as it makes annoying sounds to wake you up. So forget about tapping your alarm and going back to sleep, because you will need to catch this little guy first.
You can leave in your stand next to your table, and just wait for it to do its job. It can jump from 3 feet high and can also run over carpets or wood.
This one in particular comes with 10 heat settings and 10-hour auto-off function, so you don’t have to wake up to turn it off in the middle of the night.
It is also washable and dryer safe, so don’t worry about the hygiene of it.
I am a tech lover and I try to make all rooms of my house tech friendly. These technology are here to help but know when it’s time to put down your computer or mobile device so you can rest. Which tech gadget you would buy first?
