As some of you might have already noticed I really love traveling and love getting to know new places, new cultures, local cuisines and so on.
I like to share the really good trips with you guys because it’s hard to find the right place to go and especially hard to find the right hotel.
I assume that if you are a fan of my blog we probably share similar taste so I think you will like this travel blog.
Short Spontaneous Trips are the Best
I much rather not plan at all and when I feel like traveling I just do it. I can’t just travel the next day, usually because of work and other things but most of the times within the month I am all ready to go.
I also prefer short trips, 4-8 days usually is plenty for me. I have my business and I can’t stay away for too long and also I start to feel unproductive.
So I highly recommend that you try short spontaneous trips. If you are in the US like myself, 4 days in Mexico is perfect and very doable.
You can’t go wrong with the Mayan Riviera in Mexico
It’s my second time in the Mayan Riviera in Mexico. In my first trip I went to Playa del Carmen, which I highly recommend and this time I went to Maroma beach, which is located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, exactly 30 miles south of Cancun in the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.
Maroma beach is paradise. If you are looking for the picture perfect beach with warm blue water, white sand and palm trees, this is it
Maroma is an exclusive beach with only a few resorts. The resorts are usually huge and very luxurious; they try to have everything within the resort’s premises so that you don’t have to leave for anything. But in case you are ready for nightlife or even a walk in the city you have both Cancun and Playa de Carmen minutes away.
Where to Stay – Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun
I stayed at the Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun located in Maroma beach. If you are looking to indulge yourself in unlimited luxury this is the perfect resort.
They also really know the art of relaxation and romance. The hospitality was outstanding, I was never treated better anywhere else.
Secrets Maroma is an adult only luxury all-inclusive resort. It is beautifully designed and decorated and also very clean, which is something that I critique heavily usually.
There are several pools that you can enjoy, Jacuzzis, the beach footsteps away, many restaurants, spa, cigar store, jewelry and clothing store, coffee café, beach front private tents, and even their own nightclub.
The food quality really impressed me. I have been to a few luxury all-inclusive resorts and usually the food is ok, you find a couple of restaurants with high quality food but not through out the entire resort, which was the case at Secrets Maroma.
Even the room service food was outstanding. I have no complaints about the food. I suggest you try their Japanese restaurant; the sushi was to die for!
There is also a poolside grill that is great and please don’t leave without trying their Angus cheeseburger, really worth the calories.
And last but not least, they have pool and beach wait service, which I really enjoyed when I was in the beachfront private tent.
Drinks are all inclusive as well. You have to just make sure you ask for the specific brand that you want. Please have a lemon drop for me it was my favorite.
They have full spa services, with massage treatments, nail salon, hair salon etc.
As I mentioned before they have their own nightclub with a really good DJ by the way. They also have a few bars and many daytime activities.
I played soccer at the beach on my first day there it was very fun. They have volleyball, tennis court, golf course, pool table, football, kayaks, cigar tasting shop, paddleboards etc. And there is always Cancun and Playa del Carmen if you want a night out.
Perfect for Couples
I have to say this resort is definitely for couples. I saw very few singles there. The age range seemed to me between 25-50 years old and that is also what one of the managers there told me.
I want to stress this because if you are a young guy like me but you are single you may not enjoy it but if you are traveling with a girlfriend and other friends you will have the time of your life.
Honeymooners: this is the perfect place! And for my wife’s joy they also host weddings there (she is obsessed with weddings).
Getting there- I used USA transfer services and booked in advance. I am happy with the service and I felt very safe with them.
Travel light – you will end up staying in your swim shorts most of the day.
Bring sunscreen and insect repellent – yes there are insects like mosquitoes ( that you don’t actually see ) so be prepared.
Please tip – tipping is not required but I highly encourage you to do so. As I said before the hospitality there is outstanding and those guys are working so hard to make you have the best vacation ever.
They always have a smile and truly go above and beyond. I want to give a shout out to Miguel, our concierge, he was the best. I hope you are lucky enough to meet him, he did more than he needed to make sure we were happy with everything.
By the way each building has its own concierge and there is also a roaming concierge.
